Jumpstart Your Wardrobe
DIY fashion is the way for you if you are sick of any of the
following:1) all of the black tops at the club 2) all of the blue
button-downs at the office or 3) unoriginal jeans and t-shirts
everywhere else. You can do this, psyche yourself up and get into your closet!
First, you can not be afraid of color or patterns; if you think that it’s ugly, try it on and what do you honestly dislike about it? Is the color unflattering? Is the print too much for you?
Secondly, finding a style that is unique to you does take time, same as building a reputation. If that color is unflattering, why? Does it go against your skin tone, eye color? Figure it out and then NEVER make that mistake again, NEVER allow that color to once again make it’s way into your closet. If the print is too much, find a way to tame it down with a basic piece (e.g. paisley skirt needs a basic top that matches the print of the skirt, not the base color).
Now, get dressed in something that makes you feel good, makes you feel pretty, makes you stand out. Wear this outfit, top, skirt often until you find something else that is similar, this is now a signature piece and you now have a signature look. Be a cardigan girl, be a skirt diva, rock those flats, be unique!
Helpful tips: organize your closet by color, listen to the sales girls when they talk about what’s fashionable and why, be inspired by fashion magazines to try something that you wouldn’t ordinarily try, go shopping and try at least one thing on that you think that you don’t like, YOU WILL SURPRISE YOURSELF!
